WE FOLLOW OUR POLICIES
INTRODUCTION

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from bottombasics.com (the “Site”).

SECTION 1: PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

While you visit the Site we’ll track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed.
  • Certain information about your device including location, IP address and browser type, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping.

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.

We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

 

  • Cookies are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier.
  • Log files track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • Web beacons, tags, and pixels are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.
SECTION 2: HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional My Account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Set up your account for our store
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings
  • Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders. We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses. Credit card details are not stored on the Site servers.

We will also store comments or reviews, if you choose to leave them.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize the Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We use cookies to ensure that you get the best experience on our website, although the cookes we use do not contain personally identifiable information. In the US and Canada, by continuing on this website or by clicking the cookie banner’s “Accept” button, you agree to the storing of cookies on your device. In the EU and UK, by clicking the cookie banner’s “Accept All” button, you agree to the storing of cookies on your device.

WHO ON THE BOTTOM BASICS TEAM HAS ACCESS

Members of the Bottom Basics Team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both administrators and shop managers can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill and monitor orders and support you.

SECTION 3: SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We share some of your Personal Information with third-party production and fulfillment partners, suppliers and shippers for expediting your orders.

We accept payments through Stripe. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Stripe, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. Please see the Stripe Privacy Center for more details.

We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

GOOGLE + YOUTUBE

The Site uses embedded YouTube videos and may use plugins from YouTube, which is operated by Google. The operator of the pages is YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, United States.

If you visit one of our pages featuring a YouTube video, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. Here the YouTube server is informed about which of our pages you have visited.

If you’re logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube allows you to associate your browsing behavior directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

YouTube is used to help make our website appealing. This constitutes a justified interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO. Please review YouTube’s Terms of Service.

We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site. GOOGLE WEB FONTS

For uniform representation of fonts, the Site uses web fonts provided by Google. When you open a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache to display texts and fonts correctly.

For this purpose your browser has to establish a direct connection to Google servers. Google thus becomes aware that our web page was accessed via your IP address. The use of Google Web fonts is done in the interest of a uniform and attractive presentation of our plugin. This constitutes a justified interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO.

If your browser does not support web fonts, a standard font is used by your computer.

SECTION 4: NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS

We maintain a newsletter mailing list through Mailchimp Email Marketing. Subscribers’ names, email address, IP address, location, time zone, time of sign up, and the method for signing up (website sign up or other promotion) are stored on Mailchimp’s servers and website. We use this information solely for the distribution of blog posts, promotions, newsletters and online magazines. Besides Mailchimp, we do not share this information with anyone outside Bottom Basics and its parent. Subscribers can opt out at any time, by clicking the Unsubscribe link which is automatically added to the bottom of each email campaign. The above policy is subject to change at any time and without notice.

SECTION 5: BEHAVIORAL ADVERTISING

As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you.

SECTION 6: LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES

In certain of our content, services and products material we include external links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to such external links, and we make no representations concerning the privacy policies followed by linked websites.

Some of these websites, such as our Facebook and Instagram pages, may be co-branded with our name or logo. This Privacy Policy does not apply to, and we cannot always control the activities of, such other third-party websites. You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party websites.

SECTION 7: DO NOT TRACK

Please note that we do not alter the Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

SECTION 8: DATA RETENTION

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

SECTION 9: YOUR GDPR RIGHTS

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access Personal Information we hold about you and to ask that your Personal Information be corrected, updated, or deleted. Additionally, if you are a resident of the EEA, we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to the United States + Canada.

SECTION 10: VISITORS FROM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES + CANADA

The Site is operated and managed on servers located within Canada at Doteasy Technology Inc. ~ Suite 210 – 3602 Gilmore Way, Burnaby, BC V5G 4W9. The data controller is located within the United States. If you choose to use our website from another region of the world with laws governing data collection and use that differ from United States + Canadian law, then you acknowledge and agree that you are transferring your personal information outside of those regions to the United States + Canada and that, by providing your Personal Information on or to the Site, you consent to that transfer.

SECTION 11: CHANGES

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.

SECTION 12: MINORS

The Site is not intended for individuals who have not reached the age of majority in their country, state or province (over the age of 18 years in the United States). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Minor Child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from minors without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
