The BB Team is lucky to live in NYC and Fort Lauderdale, two places with some of the biggest LBGTQ Halloween celebrations in the US. With Halloween 2020 basically scratched due to COVID-19, there was lots of pent up energy in 2021!
In Wilton Manors, FL, the gay center of the universe in Greater Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Drive (The Drive) was closed to vehicular traffic. Early bird children were able to stroll the streets for Trick or Treat prior to the onslaught of adult in all kinds of costumes from a full circus, to drag queens, witches, squid gaymers, leather men, go-gos, pigs and slutty boys. Plus QAnon Shaman!
Thousands and thousands crowded the streets, bars, clubs and outdoor stages for the annual Wicked Manors street party. With the theme “Turn Back Time,” we were sure we spotted more than a few Chers!
Donations went to the non-profit Pride Center at Equality Park located a few blocks away, and hundreds of volunteers from other LGBTQ non-profit agencies joined to help at the entrance booths, security and safety. Multitudes of revelers gave a good shot in the arm to local LGBTQ-owned bars, restaurants and stores.
We’re already trying to figure out what we are going to next Halloween!
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I’d take back those words that have hurt you
And you’d stay
If I could reach the stars
I’d give ’em all to you
Then you’d love me, love me
Like you used to do
There are a ton of good photos on the Wicked Manors Facebook page. Are you hidden in there?
